Armand Rabot

Biography
British-Sri Lankan baritone Armand Rabot is currently a member of the Bayerische Staatsoper Opernstudio. He previously took part in the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence Académie in 2025 and was an artist of the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival in 2024. He studies with Ben Johnson. Recent projects include his return to the Salzburg Festival as Roucher in Andrea Chénier as well as concert appearances with Graham Johnson, including performances of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius at Truro Cathedral and *Saffron Hall.
On the concert platform, Armand Rabot has appeared in Mendelssohn’s Paulus at Wakefield Cathedral, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Spires Philharmonic Orchestra, and Elijah with the Birkenhead Choral Society. He has sung Mozart’s Requiem at Liverpool Cathedral and with the Marple Choral Society, and Handel’s Messiah with the Salford Choral Society, the Birkenhead Choral Society, and at Shrewsbury Cathedral. Further highlights include Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem and Puccini’s Messa di Gloria with the Formby Choral Society, Haydn’s The Creation with the Keele Bach Choir, Fauré’s Requiem at Blackburn Cathedral, Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Amadeus Choir, and Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël at Shrewsbury Cathedral.
He collaborates frequently with the Liverpool Bach Collective, performing numerous Bach cantatas, including BWV 62, 158 and 32, as well as both the St John Passion and the St Matthew Passion. In the coming season, he will appear in a Schubert lecture-recital alongside Graham Johnson OBE at the Salle de Musique de Chambre, Philharmonie Luxembourg. His upcoming roles at the Bayerische Staatsoper include Tom in a new production of Die englische Katze, the Imperial Commissioner in Madama Butterfly, Ein Cappadocier in Salome, and Male Consort IV in the world premiere of Of One Blood. He will also sing the Hunter in Rusalka with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Recent highlights further include Der Direktor in Der Spieler at the Salzburg Festival, as well as appearances with The Grange Festival in L’incoronazione di Poppea (Littore, Famigliari 3) and The Rake’s Progress (Keeper of the Madhouse). He has also performed Father in Hänsel und Gretel for Hampstead Garden Opera, and Narumov as well as the cover of Surin in The Queen of Spades at The Grange Festival.
