Biography
Soo-Jung Ann was born in Seoul in 1987. She began the piano at the age of 6 and studied at Yewon Art School and the preparatory school of the Korean National University of Arts. She studied with Prof. Choong-Mo Kang and obtained the Bachelor Degree of Music at the Korean National University of Arts in Feb. 2007. She has been a student of Prof. John O’Conor and Thérèse Fahy RIAM (at the Royal Irish Academy of Music) since Sep. 2007. In 2009, she received the degree for Master of Music in Performance and now she is studying for the degree of Doctor in Music Performance at RIAM since Sept. 2009.
Also now she is studying with Prof. Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum University Salzburg of the Postgraduate Course since Sep. 2012.
Soo-Jung Ann has had great success at International Piano Competitions- the 6th prize of the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2009, the 3rd prize of the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition in 2009, the 4th prize of the Hong Kong International Piano Competition in 2011 where in the final she performed the Rachmaninoff 3rd piano concerto conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy. She was awarded the 1st prize with a Gold Medal at the 58th International Music Competition Maria Canals of Barcelona in 2012, and the number of concerts and Naxos CD recording will be offered to her as the supplementary prizes.
In 2013, she was awarded the 1st prize winner of 5th International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn in Germany and ABM-Prize of Piano Academy Eppan in Italy.
Soo-Jung Ann has performed widely throughout her native country Korea in addition to Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, U.S.A., Macedonia, Poland, Russia, Solovakia and England, and she has performed as concerto soloist with Kracow Philharmonic Orchestra, Macedonia Philharmonic Orchestra, Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra, Rzeszow Philharmonic Orchestra, RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Universal Philharmonic Orchestra Barcelona Catalan Valles Symphony and Slovak Radio Symphony. She has also appeared at a number of music festival including Euro Music Festival and Academy Leipzig in Germany, the Hamamatsu Music Academy in Japan and the Aspen Music Festival and School in the U.S.A.
