Biography
Daniel Sepec, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1965, studied with Dieter Vorholz in Frankfurt and Gerhard Schulz in Vienna.
Since 1993 he has been leader of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, with which he also appears regularly as a soloist, under such conductors as Daniel Harding, Thomas Hengelbrock, Frans Brüggen and Trevor Pinnock, but also directs himself on occasion.
Attracted by the rich expressive variety of Baroque music, Daniel Sepec devotes an increasing amount of his time to the Baroque violin. Hence he frequently appears as leader of the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock, which plays on original instruments. He has also appeared as guest leader with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Camerata Academica Salzburg, and Camerata Bern, and as a soloist with the Academy of Ancient Music under Christopher Hogwood and the Wiener Akademie under Martin Haselböck. He has performed Biber’s Rosary Sonatas on the Baroque violin in the Vienna Konzerthaus and at the Innsbruck Early Music Festival.
In the field of chamber music, he has been regularly invited to the Schubertiade Hohenems since 1995. In that same year he founded a trio with the flautist Eugen Bertel and the guitarist Alexander Swete.
Daniel Sepec had played in a piano trio with Andreas Staier and Jean-Guihen Queyras since 2003. In the following year, together with Jean-Guihen Queyras, Antje Weithaas and Tabea Zimmermann, he founded the Arcanto Quartet.
