Biography
The Italian baritone Matteo Loi studied in his hometown Cagliari, at the Fiesole Music School, the Conservatory in Florence and Alberto Zedda at the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro. Here he also made his debut as part of the Rossini Opera Festival in Il viaggio a Reims. In 2014 he became a member of the Opera Studio in Tenerife. He was a finalist at the Cesti Singing Competition in Innsbruck and was a member of the Accademia of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence. Since the season 2016/17 he is a member of the Junges Ensemble des Theater an der Wien and was already in Verdi's La Traviata, Ullmann's The Emperor of Atlantis, Handel's Oreste, Salieri's La scuola de'gelosi, Porpora's Arianna in Nasso and most recently as Malatesta in To hear Donizetti's Don Pasquale. In May he will perform in Mozart's Così fan tutte as Guglielmo. In the Theater an der Wien he sings Helmesberger in a The Visit of the Old Lady.
