Biography
Orsolya Pálfi was born in Budapest, Hungary. At the age of eight, she received her first violin tuition from Jankó Béláné at a music school in Budapest. Between 1993 and 1998 she received tuition from István Kertész and Erika PetÅ‘fi (Festetics Quartet) at the Béla Bartók Zenemüvészeti Szakközépiskola és Gimnázium, from which she graduated in 1997.
From 1998 she did performance studies in violin with Prof. Edward Zienkowski at the University for Music and Performing arts in Vienna. In 2002 she changed to the University of Arts in Graz (Oberschützen) where she became a student of Prof. Eszter Haffner (Chamber Music with Wolfgang Redik).
In 2003 she won the university´s soloist audition and was picked to play as a soloist with the Oberschützen University´s orchestra. During her studies she attended master classes with Tibor Varga and Eszter Perényi. In 2009 she graduated as Magistra Artium in violin performance from the University of Music in Graz.
Since 2006 she has been a member of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and since 2011 a member of the CarcassoneStringQuartet. In addition to this she has played among others in the following ensembles: the Vienna RSO, Vienna Volksoper, Vienna Concertverein, Neue Oper Vienna, Vienna Kammerphilharmonie, Vienna Mozart Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
