Biography

Franz von Suppé, born in 1819 in Split and deceased in 1895 in Vienna, was an Austrian composer and conductor. He is considered one of the pioneers of Viennese operetta, shaping this genre significantly. Suppé studied in Padua and Vienna, working in various Viennese theaters, including the Theater an der Wien. He composed over 30 operettas and stage works, with several overtures that remain popular as concert pieces today. Suppé's music is known for its catchy melodies, lively rhythms, and humorous touches.
