Katharina Kratochwil

Katharina Kratochwil was born in 1998 in Tulln an der Donau and began
her musical journey with oboe lessons under Eva Griebl-Stich. After completing
her bachelor’s degree with Professor Thomas Höniger, she is currently
continuing her studies with Professors Ernest Rombout and Harald Hörth. She has
further refined her skills in numerous masterclasses with renowned musicians
such as Mathilde Lebert, Ivan Podyomov, Gregor Witt, David Walter, François
Leleux, and Albrecht Mayer.

She has gained valuable professional experience as a substitute in
several Viennese orchestras, including the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra,
the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Volksoper Vienna, the orchestra of the
Vienna State Opera, and the Vienna Philharmonic. As a soloist, she has
performed with the orchestra of the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy, the Webern
Symphony Orchestra, and the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria.

Since November 2023, she has held the position of principal oboist at
the Volksoper Vienna. Following a successful audition at the Vienna State
Opera, she will soon take up her new role as second oboist and English horn
player.
