Biografie
Magda Amara was born in Moscow, Russia. She graduated with honors from Gnessin Special School in Moscow (class of M. Khokhlov), Moscow State Conservatory and its post-graduate department (class of professor S. Dorensky, among whose students are more than 160 laureates of international music competitions).
Magda is a laureate of eleven national and international competitions, including first prizes at “Jeunesses Musicales” and “Ennio Porrino” piano contests, 3rd prize at the Vladimir Horowitz international competition (a member of World Federation of International Music Competitions) and first prize and Grand-Prix for chamber music in Kaluga and Magnitogorsk (as a part of Cesar-quintet). While still a student and recipient of the scholarship of the V. Spivakov foundation, Magda went on tours of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Italy, Holland and many other countries.
In 2009 Magda entered the post-graduate department of Vienna University of Music in the class of Prof. Stefan Vladar and since then has been living and working in Vienna. She participates in many prestigious international music festivals, such as “Dvorakova Praha”, “Le Sion Festival”, “Best of NRW”, “Neuberger Kulturtage”, “Attergauer Kultursommer”, “Oberösterreichische Stiftskonzerte” etc., and performs in concert halls of Moscow Conservatory, Konzerthaus Vienna, Musikverein, Mozarteum Salzburg, in many cities in Austria, Germany, Holland, Switzerland. She has enjoyed successful collaborations with orchestras such as the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, North Netherlands Orchestra, Cairo Symphony Orchestra and Brno symphony.
Meanwhile Magda Amara pays a great attention to chamber music. Having grounded “Cesar-quintet” in Moscow Conservatory, inspired by famous teachers T. Gaydamovich and A. Bonduryanskiy,nowadays Magda is collaborating with outstanding musicians as Julian Rachlin, Dora Schwarzberg, Stefan Vladar, Pavel Vernikov, Boris Andrianov, ensembles, soloists and artists of Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic orchestras, Vienna chamber orchestra, young talents etc. With her permanent Duo partner, cellist Harriet Krijgh she made a recording of Brahms sonatas (Capriccio label, 2013)
Her next plans with Harriet Krijgh are debuts in famous concert halls such as Concertgebauw Amsterdam, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Tonhalle Zürich, in Köln, Hamburg, Porto, London, Birmingham and others.
Since 2014 Magda Amara works as professor for piano at the Vienna Music Academy.
