Vinzenz Praxmarer

Conductor

Vinzenz Praxmarer completed his conducting degree at the Vienna Konservatorium. After his successful completion in 2007, he worked as the assistant, among others, for Kirill Petrenko, Bertrand de Billy, Marc Albrecht, Christoph Eschenbach and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. He was assistant conductor and head of studies, among others, at the Theater an der Wien, at the Salzburg Festival, at the Opéra National de Lyon as well as the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam.

The Austrian celebrated his debut in 2006 at the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl with Franz von Suppé’s comic opera, Fatinitza. This was followed by, among others, Giuditta, Der Zarewitsch and Paganini as well as a Gala Concert with KS Angelika Kirchschlager. Fatinitza, Frasquita and Der fidele Bauer appeared as first recordings on CPO.

In 2011, Vinzenz Praxmarer took over the Musical Directorship of the opera festival in Klosterneuburg, where he conducted “The Marriage of Figaro”. Further debuts led him to the Vienna Volksoper (Das Land des Lächelns), to the Landestheater in Bregenz (The Magic Flute) as well as in 2012 to the Theatre in St. Gallen, where he took the responsibility of directing the music in the new production of Eine Nacht in Venedig (A night in Venice).

In March 2012, Vinzenz Praxmarer made his debut at the Wiener Staatsoper (Children’s opera) with Richard Wagner’s The Fairy after which he was appointed to lead the new production of the musical children's opera The Dream Eater for the beginning of the season 2012/2013. In 2013/2014, he also conducted Das Städtchen Drumherum and Wagner‘s Nibelungenring for children in the Wiener Staatsoper.
