Teo Gertler


Teo Gertler is a young Slovak-Hungarian violin soloist, very much recognized in Europe for his brilliant technique but mainly for his unique tone and notably sensitive interpretation. Several conductors have referred to colour of his tone, virtuosity and phrasing as of a much more senior violinist.


Teo has performed as a soloist in some three dozen of concerts worldwide with some of the world’s finest orchestras and collaborated with conductors such as Ivan Fischer and Budapest Festival Orchestra, Adam Medveczky with Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra, or Vladimir Spivakov with Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra. Number of very interesting projects have also resulted from the vivid and lasting cooperation with the Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina and conductor Leoš Svárovský. Among other occasions, Teo performed at the Dubai2020 Expo, and was also invited to play at the opening ceremony of the new Hungarian Music Hall in Budapest.


Special invitations include the one from Placido Domingo to work together on various musical projects, including concerts in the USA, Denmark and Hungary, and invitation from Andrea Bocelli, to perform in the László Papp sport arena in front of more than 13,000 spectators.

Teo has also been a guest soloist at number of international festivals, for instance at the Musical Olympus Festival with St. Petersburg State Academic Capella, Moscow Meets Friends Festival, or at the closing gala concert of the Interlaken Classics Festival with Zakhar Bron Festival Orchestra.


Teo is a laureate of numerous international competitions around the world.  His debut at the international scene dates back to 2016, when in his 8 years of age, he was awarded 2nd prize at the 17th international competition of young musicians Nutcracker in Moscow and performed with the Moscow Academic Orchestra. Besides many prizes he received in various international competitions, those that Teo values the most are the Grand Prix at the XIV. International Competition of Young Violinists in Honour of Karol Lipinski and Henryk Wieniawski in Lublin, Poland, Grand Prix at the 9th International Competition for Young Violinists in Novosibirsk, Russia, and the 1st Prize at the G. Ph. Telemann International Violin Competition in Poznan, Poland.


Teo plays an Andrea Guarneri 1681 violin, kindly loaned from a British/Slovak patron and supporter Mr. Jan Telensky.
