Raphael Schluesselberg is currently Musical Director of Symphonia Vienna as well as of "Jugend an der Wien" and "Oper rund um". He made his conducting debut at the age of 15.
He studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Leopold Hager, Mark Stringer, choir direction with Erwin Ortner. 2011 marked the beginning of the successful "Opera rund um" festival in the Mostviertel and on the streets of Vienna.
Amongst others, he directed Puccini's La Bohème, Rossini's Il barbiere di Seviglia, Mozart's Don Giovanni and J. Strauss's Die Fledermaus. International invitations as an opera conductor led him to Montpellier to the Opéra national, to Skopje and to the University of Illinois, USA. At the Theater an der Wien, he regularly works as a director of studies and a conducting assistant. Next season he will conduct the new production of L'enfant / Olympia at the Kammeroper.
