Pier Carlo Orizio

Born in Brescia in 1963, Pier Carlo Orizio graduated in piano under Sergio Marengoni at the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Brescia, while also studying composition with Giancarlo Facchinetti. He received his conducting training from Donato Renzetti and attended master classes by Emil Tchakarov (Venice, 1988) and Leonard Bernstein (Rome, 1989). 


Since 2008, he has been the Artistic Director of the Brescia and Bergamo International Piano Festival. Orizio has conducted over 80 orchestras, including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Russian National Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Belgian National Orchestra, and the Camerata Salzburg. With the Prague Philharmonia, he recorded Beethoven’s Concerto No. 1 and Schumann’s Concerto No. 1 for RAI, featuring soloist Martha Argerich. He has performed alongside legendary names such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Salvatore Accardo, Sir James Galway, Mikhail Pletnev, Rudolf Buchbinder, Uto Ughi, and Daniil Trifonov. Orizio also teaches conducting at the Conservatory of Brescia​
