Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz

Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz, chief dramaturge of the Vienna Volksoper since 2003, has already worked during his studies in musicology, political science and Romance studies at ORF radio as well as as an actor, author and cabaret artist (among others cabaret Niedermeier, Graumanntheater, Theater bei Auersperg, Cabaret Simpl). He was a board member and general secretary of the Friends of the Vienna State Opera until 1992, before becoming press chief of the Vienna State and Volksopera in 1993. From 1996 to 2001 he was chief dramaturg of the Vienna State Opera. 
He plans, writes, designs and presents soirees, matinees and lectures on the major themes, works and personalities of opera, operetta and musical. From 2013 to 2016, Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz was artistic director of the Theatersommer Haag. In 2020, he will take over the artistic direction of the Langenlois Castle Festival and will be responsible for the anniversary production »25 Years of Operetta in Langenlois. Wagner-Trenkwitz is a board member of the Arnold Schönberg Center Private Foundation, the International Richard Strauss Society and the International Franz Lehar Society.
