Andreas Hörl

Andreas Hörl

Hörl's Hagen is a phenomenon. When he summons his Gibichsmen at the beginning of the second act with hoiho calls, it sends shivers down the listener's spine. You wouldn't want to meet this guy alone on the street at night. His profound bass seems to have inexhaustible power. Yet, he can wield it much more refinedly this year than he did years ago in 'Tannhäuser' and 'Lohengrin'. A real highlight!

The charismatic singer is popular on international stages and convincingly portrays Hunding as well as Sarastro. His diverse repertoire also includes Baron Ochs, King Marke, and Fasolt. In 2015, he sang Fafner for the first time at the Bayreuth Festival, and in December 2016, he was seen as King Marke under the musical direction of M° Daniele Gatti at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. In 2017/18, he performed as Fafner and Hunding with the Odense Symphony Orchestra and as Hans Schwarz at the Bayreuth Festival. The 2018/19 season began successfully for him as Hagen at the Ring in Minden with outstanding reviews. He returned to the Bayreuth Festival in 2019 and will be there again in 2020. Furthermore, he is currently preparing for his first Gurnemanz and Pogner – following in the tradition of his great teacher Kurt Moll.
