Musical Double

The Symphony in D major, op. 18/3 by Johann Christian Bach is considered one of the most beautiful compositions ever written for double orchestra. Johann Christian Bach had a strong influence on the compositional work of his friend Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. While it doesn't feature a double orchestra, it does offer a double dialogue of solo instruments with its brilliant E-flat major concerto for two pianos and orchestra, composed around the same time as Bach's D major symphony. The solo part will be performed by Lucas and Arthur Jussen, one of the most sought-after piano duos. Among Franz Schubert's symphonies, only two are in minor keys. Alongside the "Unfinished" Symphony, there is the "tragic" Fourth, which Dvořák praised with the words: "It is astonishing that such a young person had the strength to express himself with such deep pathos."
