The Vienna Chamber Orchestra performs this open-air opening concert of the 16th Rhodes International Festival with works of the Viennese classical period and Viennese waltzes as greetings from Vienna under the artistic direction of concertmaster Wolfgang Redik.
The Rhodes International Festival was founded in 2007 to promote the cultural identity of the region and to boost cultural tourism and heritage. The festival takes place during the first two weeks of September in the historic Palace of the Grand Master, which is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It primarily showcases classical music, opera, film music, musicals, and innovative crossover concerts with renowned artists. It is carried out with the support of various organizations, the government, and UNESCO.
